After 25 years, Philip has reluctantly relinquished his membership on moving away from the area. He will be really missed by us all. Thank you for sending me off with a flea in the ear! He revealed that the poem best described his extensive travels which took him bouncing around a global triangle bounded by North America, Europe and Australia. He explained, in his anecdote, that his first move came when the company sent him to learn the alumina process at a plant in Quebec, Canada.
The second move was back to Ireland; the third to Montreal, via Harvard Business School; the fourth from Montreal to Gladstone in Queensland, Eastern Australia; the fifth was back to the original plant in Ireland; the sixth to Malaysia; and the seventh, Glasgow. It was ultimately move number eight which brought Fred to Shropshire, to Bridgnorth in fact, and he decided to settle his family in Shrewsbury.
His ninth job was in Cologne, Germany, and job number 10 was in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, which he admits was the most lucrative with a very low cost of living and zero tax. The project was progressing well until a drop in the oil price saw building work abruptly halted. Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveller, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same, And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back. I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence:
During it’s hey days the Indus valley civilization covered an area in the Indian subcontinent that was larger than the present day Europe. The civilization flourished roughly between BC and BC, with its antecedents dating as far back as BC during the Neolithic period. The Indus valley civilization was essentially an urban civilization, characterized by well planned cities, built according to the needs of the people who inhabited them and the geographical and climatic challenges they faced.
They built high rise structures, knew agriculture, pottery and metallurgy, familiar with drainage and water supply systems and traded with other peoples by navigating in boats along the river routes and also probably across the seas. The discovery of Indus valley civilization brought the Indian subcontinent into limelight as home to one of the most ancient human civilizations and gave scope to many scholars to present an argument that the Indian subcontinent, as a land of racial, ethnic and linguistic diversity from time immemorial and as a land that stood in the way of waves of migrating prehistoric nomads and adventurers of stone age, might be the cradle of human civilization.
While it is true that the Harappn and Mohenjodaro cities might have flourished around BC, the fact that they were well planned cities lends credence to the argument that the urban planning and the level of sophistication that went into its execution, could not have been possible without corresponding development in various fields spread over a period of several centuries.

The ancient Hindus were familiar with the theory of sound Gandharva Veda , and its metaphysics and physics. The hymns of the Rig Veda contain the earliest examples of words set to music, and by the time of the Sama Veda a complicated system of chanting had been developed. By the time of the Yajur Veda, a variety of professional musicians had appeared, such as lute players, drummers, flute players, and conch blowers.
It is common Hindu practice to attribute the beginning of a branch of learning to a divine origin through the agency of a rishi. Shiva, also called Nataraja, is supposed to be the creator of Sangita, and his mystic dance symbolizes the rhythmic motion of the universe. He transmitted the knowledge of cosmic dance to the rishi Bharata, through one of his ganas.
The dance is called tandava and Bharata thus became the first teacher of music to men, and even to apsaras, the heavenly dancers. Similarly, the rishi Narada, who is depicted as endlessly moving about the universe playing on his vina lute and singing, is believed to be another primeval teacher of music. Buddhist texts also testify to the prevalence of Sangita, both religious and secular, in early India.
