My RV, a 20 ft Roadtrek van, is great road trip vehicle. I was reading a travel article about the Outer Banks of North Carolina and it caught my interest as a place to see that was an easy drive from my home. Late summer, after schools are in session and the tourists are gone, seemed like a perfect time to go. I had seen pictures of Cape May and it looked like another interesting place to visit. Also, there is a ferry that will take you across to Delaware and the Outer Banks are an easy drive from there. I planned a nine day trip and just waited for a stretch of good weather to set out. We had an easy drive out of Massachusetts into Connecticut. With the RV, I now have to avoid most parkways, due to restrictions.

Named the seat of government for Dare County in , this waterfront community incorporated in In those early days, every store lining the waterfront had two doors – one for those coming by boat, and the other for those coming from the courthouse or one of the inns on Water Street. Today, county business still brings people to town, as well as many reminders of the island’s history, including the representative 16th century ship at Roanoke Island Festival Park, or the George Washington Creef Boathouse and Roanoke Marshes Lighthouse, part of the North Carolina Maritime Museum.
Each summer, the town welcomes singers, dancers, and actors back to Waterside Theatre, where they perform the nation’s oldest outdoor symphonic drama, The Lost Colony. No matter the weather, there’s always something different to do in Manteo, and another reason to return. Maybe there’s a concert or art show or nature program that brings you back. But often it’s the everyday interaction with people that makes you pause, turn back, come again. You might meet an island native who traces his family back four generations. Or then you might meet someone from your own hometown.

We had a great time exploring around her area before leaving on Sunday for the Outer Banks. Upon arriving we got settled in and I jumped in with both feet on Sunday night to get a head start for Monday morning.

The open faced spinning reel is the most common type of fishing reel used in pier and surf fishing. The spinning reel usually comes in different sizes. The classification of the reel is determined by its weight. The lighter reels are designed to hold low pound test lines. The medium size, which is the most popular choice of fishermen, usually holds 12 to pound test fishing line. A heavy surf casting reel holds the most amount of line and heavier pound test.
The lighter the reel, the more comfortable it will feel to the fishermen. The revolving spool reel is typically used by individuals fishing for large bluefish and drum. This is a harder type of reel to use. Since the spool tends to move quicker than the line, the line is more likely to become tangled. Fishing Rods Common surf rods are usually between 8 and 12 feet in length.

The spring may be equally appealing as the fall for many of the same reasons.
